GAERC called for more and better aid
Brussels (26 May) - Anti-poverty campaigners gathered in front of the European Council today to call on EU development ministers to give more and better aid. The newly released "No Time to Waste: European governments behind schedule on aid quantity and quality" report of CONCORD discloses that the EU is far from keeping their promised aid and worse, indicates declining figures between 2006 and 2007. With the current trend, 75 billion euros worth of aid would be missing by 2010. The General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) composed of EU development ministers, meets on 26-27 May in Brussels to discuss aid and development. See story.
