29 June: Meeting room ILO 4, 10h00 to 11h45 and 14h00 to 17h45

It hopes to capitalize on the presence of a large number of representatives from civil society from EU and ACP countries to develop co-operative strategies towards the implementation of the new ACP-EU agreement.

The aims of the workshop are

1) To explore/propose explicit ways in which the EU-ACP co-operation could contribute to achieving the social development goals.

2) To develop strategies for strengthening the involvement of civil society actors in the implementation of the new ACP-EU Agreement, at both the national and global level. An expected outcome is consideration of the development of specific mechanisms that allow civil society to better engage in and monitor, at the national level, the ACP-EU Agreements efforts to achieve social development.

The meeting will include a presentation by EU Commissioner for Development Mr Poul Nielson.
