Brussels, 26 October 2007.  A set of benchmarks has been established a number of civil society organisations against which the outcome of the EU's planning of its cooperation with countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific.  The document, entitled "Democractic Scrutiny of EU Aid: Benchmarks for the Scrutiny of the Joint EU Programme African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries", identifies 8 issues on which the EU programme will be judged.  Organisations are being invited to endorse the benchmarks.
