REVIEW OF EUROSTEP’s NEWSLETTER

THE PRO-ACTIVE FILE (PAF)

The Eurostep Secretariat is in the process of carrying out a review of its newsletter - the Pro Active File (PAF), which it has produced since 1994.

Please find below a questionnaire, which is intended to guide the Secretariat in carrying out this review. Please send responses to the questions to Guggi Laryea ( [email protected] ) by 23 March.

1) CONTENT OF THE PAF

While the PAF was developed initially as an internal Eurostep information tool, the demand for providing information to a broader audience has led it to be disseminated more broadly. This has resulted in the PAF, to a certain extent, having to balance the provision of information that may be relevant for Eurostep’s member organisations, with information relevant for a broader audience.

• Please indicate which of the following statements is most true for you:

• The majority of the articles provided in the PAF are relevant to my work and interests
• About half of the articles provided in the PAF are relevant to my work and interests
• A minority of the articles provided in the PAF are relevant to my work and interests

• Which areas of EU Development Co-operation would you like to see more coverage off?

• Do you have any suggestions regarding the general content of the PAF?

 2) LAYOUT/LENGTH/PRESENTATION OF THE PAF

 The Eurostep Secretariat has tried, in the PAF, to produce a short concise newsletter of 2 pages?

• Do you believe the PAF should maintain its present layout and length?
• Do you have any other suggestions regarding the layout/length/presentation of the PAF?

3) SCOPE OF ITS DISTRIBUTION

Apart from Eurostep member organisations, the PAF is sent to other civil society organisations in both the South and North, a number of embassies in Brussels representing developing countries, the European based press, international governmental organisations and a select number of MEPs.

• Can you identify any actors/persons who you think the PAF would be of interest to?
• Do you have any other suggestions regarding the scope of distribution of the PAF?

4) THE MEANS/MANNER OF ITS TRANSMISSION

The PAF is distributed via email to all its recipients. It also appears on Eurostep’s website.

• Should the distribution of the PAF be done by email?
• Would you prefer the PAF to be sent in the main body of the email message rather than in an attached file (Note here, that sending the PAF in the main body of an email message would prevent the use of any special features in the layout)?
• Do you have any other suggestions on the manner of distribution of the PAF?

5) THE FREQUENCY OF PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE PAF

The PAF is produced weekly on Fridays.

• How frequently do you think the PAF should be produced and circulated?
• Does the current frequency of circulation of the PAF fit in with your way of working?
• Do you have any suggestions on the frequency of the production and distribution of the PAF?

6) DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS THAT ARE NOT CATERED FOR BY THE QUESTIONS ABOVE?
