Mainstreaming Tool
Step 3.
Identification of objectives
In order to achieve gender equality, a human rights’ based approach and a sustainble development it is important to keep a two-edged sword: to mainstream these values into all areas of concern and at the same time keep specific objectives for going further. When planning an activity or the whole programme, this should be taken into account.
Examples of possible specific objectives that relates to all activities
- Stakeholders’ voices, in particular women’s, are heard in all foras - both as chairs, presentators and participants - in Reference Groups, Steering Committee, seminars, workshops.. The aim is that at least 30% are women.
- All documents include an analysis on gender equality, sustainability and human rights
- The language is gender-free
- Reduction of energy resources is to be achieved
- Ecological and fair trade products are promoted
Possible "mainstreamed" objectives that relates to all activities
Civil Society Participation
- 50% women participating
- Encouragement, support and inclusion of women’s organisations
- Lobby for gender-sensitivity when the EU and the member states involve civil society actors

The Future of Europe
